An Update From Our Chairman

Dear All,

We hope you've all been able to stay safe during lockdown and keep the spirits up without any cricket in the park so far!

The committee wanted to update you on what we're working on behind the scenes and what we're planning once we are finally able to hear the umpire call 'play'.

Cricket

We're obviously all itching to see some cricket played.  This weekend was meant to be out first fixture in the Sussex League, having entered for the first time this year.

We know that he Sussex League will not be in action until early July at the earliest, however we await further guidance from the ECB and Sussex this week which we hope will give us a indication on their latest thinking, as this will impact All Stars, Dynamos, Women's Softball Cricket as well as the adult programme.

Our great hope is that one on one coaching may be permitted soon, so we will be ready to bring something to you if that is the case.

Around The Ground

The square is being well maintained and is ready for play whenever that's allowed.

A planning application is in progress to install a new two-bay practice net facility at the ground.

A funding application to the Sport England COVID-19 Emergency and is pending a decision - without help the club will be in some difficulty by the end of the year without any fundraising activities.

On that front we are going to planning for a Big Music Bash in a way that minimises risk so that, in the event that such an event is permitted by then, we will be able to go ahead.  PLEASE keep Saturday 5th September free and everything crossed!

CAN YOU HELP??

We are looking to make some improvements to the facilities in this down time. There are various jobs that we'd like to do that require machinery that we don't have, and funds are too tight for us to outlay just now.
We're looking for anyone who has any of the following, that we might be able to make use of:

  • Digger (1.5/3 tonne with 6" and grading buckets)

  • Turf Cutter

  • CAT & Genny Cable Detector (or similar)

  • Top Soil (sandy loam ideally)

If you have ANY of the above can help, please call Richard Mayger on 07402 830003.

We'll be back with further updates soon!  In the meantime make sure you're signed up to our mailing list by filling in the form below to find out about things like our regular Zoom Quiz Nights.

Stay Safe,

Alex Rees
